Long time no see!

I know it's been a while since I wrote any blogs.  I just haven't felt that "inspired" until recently.  Between driving to a lot of different places throughout the Lowcountry/Pee Dee and just staying busy I haven't really found much time to do much of anything!  I am happy to report though that after almost 2 months of having no radio in my work truck (which totally sucks by the way), I finally got one and had the company pay for it.  (as they should since 1/3 of my job is driving)  My poor blackberry speaker has probably about had it.  I'm hoping it can hold up until I decide to get the Iphone 5.  I could get the 4, but what the heck, I'm in no rush.

So I recently started listening to the new Jake Owen CD....and this is one of my favorite songs on it:

This pretty much sums up all my romances I've had ever since I moved to Charleston nearly 2 years ago.

Now, don't get my wrong, I love southern girls and I love Charleston but I swear I have the worst of luck with them.  Part of that is probably my fault though.  I've been sort of lacking in the socializing department lately.  That needs to change.....and soon!  It's football season and I intend on tailgating and celebrating Gamecock wins!  I'm so glad football season is here.  You have NO IDEA.

So I really got into listening to Jake Owen when I saw him in concert back in June.  He opened for Keith Urban and did a wonderful job.  I foresee him becoming the next Dierks Bentley or Jason Aldean.  This is (what I'm predicting) will be his next hit single:

I love this one too!

Been doing a lot of thinking lately.  I'll write a new post soon with more than just a couple of songs.  :-)

Boot Jack....thanks for bringing out my inner redneck

So this past weekend I did something I never thought I'd do....I went to Boot Jack in West Ashley.  For those of you who've never been there, it's Maaahhvelous.  My inner redneck shined through.  I was originally looking for some boots for work and couldn't decide between the steel-toe or the regular boots.  After remembering how uncomfortable my steel-toed tennis shoes I had at Westinghouse were, I decided I won't be under that many cranes or heavy equipment on a daily basis so i'm not too worried about my safety in that regard.  (that's why a hard hat's a good idea around cranes)

What is my fascination with Boot Jack?  It reminds me a little bit of a store that I like to frequent when I'm in Columbia, Clothing World.  They sell all sorts of things but mostly Carhartts, boots, fishing shirts, and all sorts of manly stuff.  They even sell cowboy hats!  I really do want to buy another cowboy hat one of these days.  I have one an ex-girlfriend bought me many years ago and I'm afraid my head is too big for it now.  It's a very nice one though, so i've kept it all these years.

So after my stupid story about finding another little redneck store that I can now frequent more often, why do we keep things from our past?  I have a cowboy hat i can't wear (because it's now too small) and I'm sure I have a shirt or 2 that doesn't fit me anymore.  There are very few things that I keep from past relationships.  I tend to throw most things out (especially pictures/picture frames) and stupid trinkets that I know I'll never need.  Is it a sign of holding on to our past or just me being a stupid pack-rat not wanting to throw something out?
