My introduction to online dating....hilarity (and frustration) ensues

So, I'm not gonna lie.  Recently, I tried online dating to meet some "normal" women.  So far, I've had absolutely zero luck with POF.com. (formerly Plenty of Fish)  There are a lot of profiles on there but none of them ever respond making me think they're fake profiles or something.  I've really only found one person on there who I actually decided was worth talking to.  After 3 weeks of trying to actually meet her in person I've gotten really frustrated.  I'm a patient guy but 3 weeks?  She lives 20 mins away, not in California or something.

I have 2 pet peeves:  1) bad drivers and 2) people that don't return phone calls.  This girl never returned any phone calls and sometimes would text me 8-10 hrs later or just not at all.  I know she's busy but give me a break....nobody's too busy to return a text or a phone call.  She's a teacher, not working in a sweatshop. Heck, if she's actually trying to get to know me then she'd answer her phone or tell me when a good time to call would be!  The first time I talked to her on the phone we talked for over 2 hours.  2 hours!  Girls I meet at bars sometimes can't even carry a conversation for 2 minutes!  She's very intelligent and we seem to have a lot of things in common which is always important.

Things in common (everything?):

So, after 3 weeks of trying to meet her, I texted her about Carolina baseball starting in a week (1 of many things we had in common).  She responded fairly quickly (for once) so I continued to ask what she was doing this weekend.  She said she had no plans.......but when I asked if she wanted to hang out, all of a sudden she had plans to trade her car in which she had been talking about since she wrecked it.  To give you a little background, she hit a deer the first weekend I spoke with her on the phone.  So, I didn't want to rush things.  Heck, she said she had a concussion!  The following weekend I was super busy and she and I texted a few times but that's about it.  I figured this past weekend might work out so I figured I'd give it a shot.

So, being the straightforward guy that I am, I asked her if she's playing games with me.  I don't have time for these stupid games.  Even if you're getting a new car, it doesn't take you the entire weekend.  I wanted to meet the girl, not waste my time.

Oops.

She didn't like that very much.  I called her out on it!  The funny thing is, she said she wasn't playing games but never gave me a proper explanation.  She just said that I was being an ass.  Well EXCUSE ME for asking but if you're on a dating website, then what's the deal?  Was I supposed to wait another 3 weeks?  So, that's my experience with online dating.  I got sort of tired of meeting the same types of women that I meet in bars because it's always the same thing.

Like one of my very good friends tells me, on to the next one......

On a side note, I just got the new Tucker Maxx book, Hilarity Ensues.  I'm hoping it was as good as the last 2!

Long time no see!

I know it's been a while since I wrote any blogs.  I just haven't felt that "inspired" until recently.  Between driving to a lot of different places throughout the Lowcountry/Pee Dee and just staying busy I haven't really found much time to do much of anything!  I am happy to report though that after almost 2 months of having no radio in my work truck (which totally sucks by the way), I finally got one and had the company pay for it.  (as they should since 1/3 of my job is driving)  My poor blackberry speaker has probably about had it.  I'm hoping it can hold up until I decide to get the Iphone 5.  I could get the 4, but what the heck, I'm in no rush.

So I recently started listening to the new Jake Owen CD....and this is one of my favorite songs on it:

This pretty much sums up all my romances I've had ever since I moved to Charleston nearly 2 years ago.

Now, don't get my wrong, I love southern girls and I love Charleston but I swear I have the worst of luck with them.  Part of that is probably my fault though.  I've been sort of lacking in the socializing department lately.  That needs to change.....and soon!  It's football season and I intend on tailgating and celebrating Gamecock wins!  I'm so glad football season is here.  You have NO IDEA.

So I really got into listening to Jake Owen when I saw him in concert back in June.  He opened for Keith Urban and did a wonderful job.  I foresee him becoming the next Dierks Bentley or Jason Aldean.  This is (what I'm predicting) will be his next hit single:

I love this one too!

Been doing a lot of thinking lately.  I'll write a new post soon with more than just a couple of songs.  :-)
